ILMINSTER businesses can benefit from a cake delivery service in exchange for a donation to the town's Macmillan Cancer Support coffee morning.

The coffee morning will include several stalls, including cakes and jam; knick-knacks, plants and bulbs, bric-a-brang, a bring and buy, and a raffle.

It will be held at the Archie Gooch Pavilion in Canal Way, Ilminster, from 9:30am until 12pm on Saturday, September 10.

Angie Blackwell, who runs the award-winning Cottage Flowers florist at Jordans Courtyard, is spearheading support for the charity fundraiser.

On the morning of Friday, September 9, Angie is offering the cake delivery service for businesses in and around Ilminster in exchange for donations to the cause.

Angie said: “This is a charity I wholeheartedly support having lost my sister to cancer a few years ago. I will be making the cakes myself and the last year we had an amazing response.

“I am hoping we will do even better this year.”

Last year's Macmillan Cancer Support coffee morning at the pavilion raised an incredible £3,812.

Raffle tickets are already being sold, with an array of splendid hampers among the prizes.

Julie Fowler, a former Ilminster mayor who is helping organise the event, said: “The response we have received has been amazing and the people of Ilminster are incredibly generous in their support of this worthy cause.

“In addition, we appreciate the contributions being made by local businesses and voluntary organisations to make this year’s coffee morning the best ever.”

The raffle team will again be on duty on September 1 and 2. You can also make a contribution via a JustGiving page at www.justgiving.com/Julie-Fowler-Macmillan
