A GROUP of women met at the Minster Rooms for a day of Flowers and Things with Teresa.

She introduced herself with a potted history of her training at the London School of Floristry and how she set up her business.

As her arrangements took shape, she explained how she approached each vase, type of flower and the required use.

The morning flew past with tips on flower preparation and questions from her audience before members broke for a delicious two-course buffet lunch Hilary prepared.

Teresa caused laughter showing members how to make dainty roses out of toilet tissue and carnations from paper serviettes.

Flowers often require ribbon bows and Teresa took members through the steps to producing really useful ones.

The afternoon ended with the raffle. Many women went home with arrangements they had seen created.

Twelve Ilminster WI members went to Dennis China Works in Shepton Beauchamp. Many local people are unaware they have such a prestigious pottery on their doorstep.

Richard Dennis welcomed members, spoke about the pottery and gave a briefly explained the pottery-making process.

He took members into the workroom where they saw first hand the skill required to decorate the distinctive pottery.

Designer of wonderful pieces Sally Tuffin joined members.

Members were invited for tea and cake in Richard and Sally’s home and were able to learn more about the pottery.
