CHARD B lost 5-1 at ECV Hornets in South East 3 of the Davis Wood league - their first defeat of the season.
The home side started very briskly, putting Chard to the sword with quick passing and running that created a number of chances.
Chard fell four goals behind in the first 20 minutes as they struggled to combat the relentless attacks.
The brief respites were created through Ed Ireland-Jones who battled well in the midfield and did get the ball forward.
One such run at the end of the half released Duncan Lewis who scored.
The second half opened up as Hornets tried to score more goals which this left space and allowed Chard some good possession.
However Chard did concede another goal mid-way through the half.
Good defensive and attacking runs by Danny Grabham gave some hope of scoring but last- ditch defending meant Chard failed to create any clear-cut chances.
