DONYATT’S ladies moved into the next round of the Optika competition after defeating Taunton Deane on Sunday.

Donyatt won on two rinks and lost on the third by two shots but clinched victory overall against a side who had caused them upsets in past years.

Donyatt rinks: Pairs – Doris Finch and Phil Meech 20-22. Triples – Carol Parsons, Mary Spurway and Maureen Mitchell 22-17. Fours – Anne Rowe, Jean Jones, Barbara Dibble and Brenda Raistrick 25-12.

On the same day, Donyatt’s men hosted Isle of Wedmore in the County League and had a very close game, going down by just 11 shots. Donyatt took four points and Wedmore 12.

Donyatt have a big game coming up on March 14 when they take on Street in the final of the Double Rink competition.

n The third game of the day was a six-rink mixed friendly at home to Moonfleet.

A very good game was enjoyed by all who played, with Donyatt winning on four rinks and by 115 shots to Moonfleet’s 85 overall.

Donyatt go to Moonfleet on March 14 and they will be trying hard to turn the tables.

Donyatt have two touring sides visiting the club this weekend.

The first team from the Weymouth area will play five mixed rinks, starting at 11am on Saturday. The second side from Oxford will play six rinks.

On Sunday, Donyatt have an away game with Mid Devon at Tiverton, starting at 2pm.
