HISTORY was created in Taunton this Summer, as the Cooper Associated County Ground hosted its first ever women’s sell out fixture – and Taunton is set to host another blockbuster match when Pakistan tour England next Summer.

In 2023, ticket sales for women’s cricket at Taunton grew from 3,500 to a record sell-out crowd of 7,500. Of these supporters, 2,577 had never watched International women’s cricket before recognising both the success of the national side and our efforts to attract new audiences and supporters for the women’s game.

The recent growth in the women’s game has played a vital part in transforming cricket for the women coming through the professional and recreational pathway systems, inspiring the next generation of those involved in cricket across the nation.

The boosted support network for women’s cricket has provided equal opportunities across all areas of the game for both players and spectators, with the sport currently in a stronger position than it has ever been before.

Somerset CCC welcome back England Women in 2024 as they entertain Pakistan in a One-Day International on May 26th next year. And the appetite for the women’s game looks set to grow further with ticket sales already up by 54% and hospitality tickets up 37% year on year for this fixture at the Cooper Associates County Ground.

“As a Club, we are committed to growing this interest further and will have ample opportunity this summer as the Cooper Associates County Ground will play host to several Western Storm games and one Somerset Women’s fixture.

“Given our long-standing relationship with the England Women’s team, we consider Somerset to be the spiritual home of women’s cricket and we will continue to give our backing to the promotion of the women’s game at all levels, from grass roots to international cricket.”
