Chard Ladies 1 Bridgwater Ladies 2nds 3

Bridgwater took the short trip to Chard this week hoping to get back to winning ways.

The game started with Bridgwater putting pressure on Chard from the whistle. Bridgwater held their shape and kept pushing Chard back into their own half.

They were soon rewarded with their first goal with Kate England jumping on the rebound.

Bridgwater kept up their intensity and had to fight for every decision. They kept their heads up and Kate found herself scoring her second with some great link up play with Hannah G.

It wasn't long before Bridgwater got their third goal with some quick thinking from Sheila getting the ball into the D and a fantastic reverse shot from Abbie flying into the bottom corner.

Bridgwater started getting tired come the end of the first half and with Clare getting a green card Chard pulled a goal back.

Bridgwater executed the second half perfectly, now all they needed to do was hold their shape and see the game out. This is exactly what they did with every player winning the ball, channelling the Chard players and playing patient hockey, Chard only had a few attacks getting into the Bridgwater D in the second half.

Man of the Match went to Niamh Dillon for her amazing strong performance in defence.

Bridgwater look to finish the first half of the season at home next week with another win against Sidmouth.
