KEVIN Johnson, the former second row forward who played rugby for Chard and Bath, has been appointed senior rugby manager for the Norway national team.
Johnson said: “Since retiring from playing rugby a few years ago I have been involved with various rugby clubs involved with coaching, managing and scouting.
“I was approached by a good friend who is the chief European talent scout for the Welsh and Guinness Pro 12 side Ospreys as well as coach of the Norway team.
“Norway are ranked 89th in the world IRB rankings and have moved up seven places in the past two years.
“There are 7,000 registered players in Norway and we also have players playing their rugby outside of the country in France and Russia as well as the Aviva Premiership league. “The remit is to get Norway into the next Rugby World Cup.
“First though we need to win our group which consists of Turkey, Bosnia, Finland, Bulgaria, Sweden and Slovenia.”
