CHARD Sunday Ladies braved cold, damp weather to emphatically win the Beaminster seven-a-side friendly tournament.
The first game was against the hosts and once Chard got into their stride they piled on the pressure, resulting in a winning goal for Charlotte Mooney.
The second game, against Honiton, saw Mooney and Lois Butcher on the scoresheet in a 2-0 victory.
Chard knew they would have to hold their nerve and continue to work hard as the final match was against strong Blandford and Sturminster. Excellent goalkeeping from Charlie Carver-Bale, who kept a clean sheet for the duration of the tournament, and commited team work from all players meant Chard gained another 2-0 win.
Both goals came from the talented Mooney who is proving to be a valuable asset to the Sunday side.
Chard: Charlie Carver-Bale, Emma Wyatt, Becky Black, Sue Stoker, Rosie Winch, Abi Wheaton, Michelle Allen, Lois Butcher, Ros Clemmans and Charlotte Mooney. Umpire: Vince Sharpe.
