LADIES from Isle Abbots showed off their creative side recently as they celebrated the summer with floral cards.

The event was held at the village hall and run by Combe St Nicholas demonstrator, Jackie Nicholls.

Maureen Boyman, who organised the event, said: “Isle Abbotts is a small village with an active village hall. We hold a variety of fund raising events during the year and also have talks and workshops.

“We ask for ideas for these events and flower arranging was high on the list of requests. We met our tutor Jackie at a Christmas craft fair last year and were impressed with her artificial flower arrangements. While talking to her, we found out she ran workshops for fresh flower arranging and so booked her for this summer.

“Under her excellent tuition we each made a beautiful summer floral card. Every card was unique and we were all surprised – and delighted – with our creations. We now feel confident and inspired to make more.”

Tutor Jackie Nicholls, from Ashville Design, said: “Flower arranging is very therapeutic and great fun too. Best of all, you don’t need any experience to have a go. I was really impressed with all the cards that were made and look forward to seeing the ladies again soon. A huge well done to them all from me.”
