HORTON village hall was packed with exhibits on Saturday (August 8, 2015) as it played host to the annual flower show.

The number of adult exhibitors and exhibits were up on last year and organisers were also delighted to see an increase in young people taking part.

Show secretary Stuart Davey said: “The hall looked very colourful with all the wonderful exhibits of fruit, flowers, vegetables, cooking and crafts.”

Stuart said a big thank you to everyone who helped – especially Annie Glibbery, Jill Venues, Gill Grafton, Ann Welch, Ken and Shirley White, Alan and Nicola Dawe, Annie Thompson, Roger Mazillius and Roger Doughty.

Prizes were presented by Henry Patey, of the Ding Gardening Club, and he also manned the “donations bucket” at the entrance to the show.

There was also a thank you to members of Horton Women’s Institute for providing the teas and cakes.

Stuart added: “I would like to thank all the judges for their time and expertise in judging the exhibits, all the stewards for helping them and all who attended the show and, of course, anyone else I may have forgotten!”
