FURTHER flood alerts have been issued across Somerset this morning (Monday, March 5) as snow continues to thaw from Storm Emma.
The Environment Agency has issued the flood alerts as 'high river levels and bankfull conditions are expected throughout the catchment'.
The river levels have responded to snow melt and now there are alerts for much of Somerset including in the Bridgwater, Taunton and Burnham areas, in Porlock Weir and Minehead in West Somerset and over parts of the Somerset Levels.
Weatherwise today is forecast to be a mix of sunny spells and showers with more persistent rain this afternoon.
It should be a fair bright start with a few showers but the outbreaks of rain in the afternoon are likely to include the odd heavy, thundery burst in places, particularly over the moors.
Tonight the rain will clear northwards through the evening leaving clear spells and isolated showers. With only light winds, some patchy mist and fog is likely in river valleys by morning.
