ONE cricket supporter went the extra-mile to get his hands on a piece of memorabilia from Chris Gayle’s stint at Somerset – by jumping into the River Tone to retrieve one of the West Indian superstar’s huge sixes.
The man, seen in this video, stripped off and dived in to collect the cricket ball on Sunday evening after Gayle’s blistering 151 not out, prompting a response from Gayle himself.
Chris said: “The river part was a bit crazy, it’s cold – I can’t believe the guy did that but that goes to show there are some die-hard fans here in the UK which is very pleasing to see.”
