THE boundary wall of a church that fell after damage caused by the roots of a tree will be restored.

The restoration of a seven-metre wall of St Mary’s Church in Whitelackington will go ahead after a planning application was approved this week.

A planning document read: “St Mary's Church, Whitelackington is a Grade II listed church with lies to the north of Grade II* The Manor House.

“This application seeks permission for the restoration of a section of the boundary wall measuring approximately 7m in length to its original condition at a height of 1.4m.

“Materials are stated as stone and mortar rubble with internal steel thread and mesh to ensure stability.

“The section of the wall had fallen due to damage caused by the roots of a yew tree with a tree protection order.

“During the course of the application amended plans were submitted in response to further advice from the tree officer.”
