ILMINSTER Cricket Club have thanked overseas signing Adeesha Nanayakkara for his service to the club this season.

The Sri Lankan allrounder has returned home after a very strong season with Ilminster CC.

Despite it being a frustrating season in respect of the weather, Nanayakkara ended the campaign as the highest run scorer in the league with 651 and helped the 1st XI finish a commendable mid-table in a highly competitive league.

His total runs for the year was also aided with nearly 300 runs in cup matches.

He was not only destructive with the bat, he contributed with the ball when needed and was an unbelievable fielder.

A spokesperson from the club said: "Outside of the 1st XI environment he was a massive help to a number of players in the youth section with his coaching and aiding their development, often being there most evenings. He also helped with umpiring youth and senior cup games.

"Asides from this, he was a great person to be around and we truly appreciate his time with us.

"From all of us at Ilminster CC, thank you Deesh and wishing you and your family a lovely summer back home."
