ILMINSTER Cricket Club faced the last round of fixtures last week and have now commenced a major renovation of the main square.

Machinery has already begun levelling the wickets and upgrading the soil.

The club has issued a polite notice to all in the area.

"Please avoid the square and respect the rope around the edge at all times as these are major works and we don’t want this to be compromised.

"This also extends to people who walk dogs and whilst as a club we appreciate it is difficult, we ask they are kept under control in this area."

In terms of the weekend results, a depleted 1st XI were beaten away to Downend.

Having hit just 80 they easily chased it down for the loss of 3 wickets

Undoubtedly the game of the weekend saw our 2nd XI pull off a magnificent win against Weston super Mare 2s.

After the opposition hit 187-7, captain Vining (pictured) carried his bat in an unbeaten 82* with Treacher 21* aiding at the end.

The 3rd XI lost by 7 wickets after hitting 184/6. Curtis 58 and Berryman 38 the main contributors
