THE Stompin’ Dave and Lucy Piper Trio are performing at The Bell Inn, Ash, near Martock on Tuesday, March 14.

Vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and tap dancer Stompin’ Dave teams up with drummer Lucy Piper and bassist Sophie Lord.

“In other parts of the world they have cyclones, tornados and hurricanes, in the UK we have Stompin’ Dave. Dave is a phenomenal artist,” says Blues In The South.

A former member of former UK Blues Band of the Year The Producers, Stompin’ Dave was nominated for a British Blues Award in 2014.

With over 25 years as a musician, Dave has consistently given over 100 performances per year across the UK and beyond, including festivals such as Glastonbury, Bestival and Camp Bestival.

Lucy Piper is the daughter of the late blues guitarist, writer and broadcaster Julian Piper and she performed his band Junkyard Angels, who were often the backing band for touring musicians from the USA.

In the past few years Lucy has spent many nights performing in Mississippi alongside top musicians including Watermelon Slim.

She has also worked with double Grammy Award winning label Ruf Records on their annual Blues Caravan’ and also played drums on Ryan Perry’s album High Risk, Low Reward.

Sophie Lord was mentored by Norman Watt-Roy, bass player with Ian Dury and The Blockheads.

She has performed with an eclectic mix of different artists, including former members of Level 42, UK singles charting R&B artist Marlon Roudette, and punk legend Viv Albertine lead singer of The Slits.

She currently performs with all star blues band Bluesclub, which includes former members of Paul McCartney, Dire Straits, and The Pretenders, as well as playing with highly regarded Plymouth based blues musician Vince Lee.
