ILMINSTER council is set to celebrate the contributions of some of the community's best assets at an annual event.

The Ilminster Annual Community Assembly, previously known as the Annual Town Meeting, will take place on May 9 at Greenfylde School Hall starting at 7.30pm.

The Assembly, which is chaired by the Mayor, is for the electors of Ilminster.

The Mayor of Ilminster, Cllr Val Keitch said “The Annual Assembly is an occasion to celebrate the contributions of local people and promote local activities.

"As well as presenting the Ilminster Citizen Awards at the meeting, I have invited local organisations to come and give a short presentation about their recent activities and future plans.

"Ilminster has a lot going on and I would like more people to know about what happens in the town so that they have the opportunity to get involved.”

The meeting has a public question time session and any elector wishing to ask a question is asked to send it to the Town Council at least 48 hours before the meeting as this will assist in providing a response at the meeting.
