PUPILS from Greenfylde Church of England First School got some dramatic lessons.
Students from the Year 4 class got to enjoy an active drama session led by one of the actors from The Royal Shakespeare Company.
The visit was part of the prize the school won as the Government’s National Pupil Premium Champion.
The school was announced in May 2016 as the winner of the award. It was the first school in Somerset to be a national winner.
The children were introduced to the comedy A Midsummer Night’s Dream by Emma.
They read lines form the play and learned about the iambic pentameter, and had a go at making up their own rhythms.
The children also tried to convince Hermia, a character from the play to marry character Demetrius rather than Lysander as it happens in the popular Shakespeare play.
A spokesman from the school said: “The session ended with the children throwing ridiculous insults at their teachers - the winning insult in one of the classes being: ‘You slice of bread.’”
Pupils are currently enjoying their Easter holidays and will be returning to school for the start of the summer term on April 18.
Headteacher, Claire Oaten, said: “After a very busy but enjoyable term I’m sure everyone is ready for a relaxing Easter holiday.
“The terms seem to fly by.”
