ILMINSTER’S Victorian Night got the Christmas season off to a spectacular start on Friday.
Thousands of people crammed the Market Square to see the switch on of the Christmas Lights and to enjoy the music and activities.

Mike Fry-Foley, the event’s organiser, said: “It was one of the best Victorian Nights in recent memory.
"Many thanks to the hundreds of people from outside of Ilminster who joined with Ilminster residents to make such a terrific night.
"Thanks also to Ilminster Blackbelt Martial Arts Academy for staffing the road closure points.”
Clinton Bonner, chairman of Ilminster Lights Committee, said: “From a Christmas lights perspective it all went very well. The town looked lovely.
“We have had some great responses. We put some extra lights in the triangle that look stunning. The weather looked like it was going to be a bit wet but it was a great night.”
