A LONG-SERVING Poppy Appeal collector has retired after 65 years of service to the annual appeal run by the Royal British Legion.
A gathering of house-to-house Poppy Appeal collectors from Ilminster and the surrounding villages provided an ideal opportunity to thank Eileen Hector, of Horton, for the 65 years she has dedicated to fundraising.
Eileen has decided it is time to retire, but a family tradition will continue when in a week’s time her daughter, Nicola Dawe, will take over her mother’s collection route.
As a thank you for all her hard work on behalf of the Royal British Legion, Mrs Hector, received was presented with a bouquet of flowers and a Poppy Brooch.
