ILMINSTER Town FC are planning an explosive fundraising event next month when they hold a bonfire and fireworks party at Britten’s Field.

Preparation work has just started on the club’s planned new pavilion and headquarters and the mammoth fundraising operation is ongoing.

The club is now hoping to have a bumper night of fun on Sunday, November 8, 2015, with its bonfire and fireworks event.

Gates will open at 4pm and the bonfire lit at 5pm before the fireworks display at 6pm.

There will be a bar serving alcoholic drinks and soft drinks, plus burgers and hot dogs will be available with the meat supplied by Bonners of Ilminster.

Local schoolchildren are entering Guys into the club’s very own Guy Fawkes competition and these will be on display from 4.30pm and the winning Guy will be announced on the night.

Advanced tickets are on sale in the local shops of Harrimans, Bonners, Cottage Flowers, Harper Dolman and West, Hannah Mays and the Spar Petrol Station. Advanced tickets are priced £5.50 for adults, £1.50 for children under-16, and free for the under-threes. Family tickets of two adults and two children are available at £12 each.

Tickets are selling fast and there will be limited availability.

A club spokesman said: “Unfortunately sparklers are not permitted at this event but glow sticks for the children will be on sale.

“We would like to thank our bonfire night sponsors - the Shrubbery Hotel Ilminster and Paul Fenton Estate agents in Chard – and we hope to make this an annual event and really hope the community come along and show their support.”

The display will be run by Stellar Fireworks.
