ESSENTIAL gas works will mean one of Ilminster’s most important town centre streets will be closed for several days later this year.
The Yeovil Press has been told that Wales and West Utilities have announced that the works will take place and need the closure of Ditton Street from September 8-11, 2015.
The Yeovil Press has been informed that Wales and West Utilities have announced the closure of Ditton Street from September 8 until 11 for gas works.
A spokesman for Wales and West Utilities has said the diversion route will be clearly signed for the duration of the works.
It means Drivers who use Ditton Street from the Market Square to access the Tesco store car park or to travel on to Listers Hill or Orchard Vale and Canal Way will now have to take a the longer route round via Silver Street, West Street, Station Road, Riec-Sur-Belon Way and Canal Way.
Ditton Street has been closed for periods in the past for works and it has caused problems for shoppers and traders as it cuts the town in half.
