EMERGENCY services are currently on the scene of a road traffic collision near Ilminster.

The fire service was called to attend the crash involving two cars near Whitelackington.

One fire appliance from Ilminster, another from Chard and a rescue tender from Yeovil were sent.

When crews attended the scene they confirmed that the incident actually involved two cars, one of which had left the road and ended up in a field.

Two casualties were cut out of their vehicles using hydraulic cutting equipment.

The South Western Ambulance Service received a call at around 2.20pm and four ambulances were sent along with an air ambulance.

One male casualty suffered cardiac arrest and CPR was carried out paramedics before being taken to Musgrove Park Hospital by air ambulance.

Two further casualties were treated for chest pains and neck injuries and taken to hospital by road ambulance.

Crews have made the vehicles safe and left in the care of the police.
