HAD the pleasure of attending our children’s carnival on Saturday.

It never ceases to amaze me how every year the quality and range of entries goes from strength to strength.

This year Disney made an impact with the most popular subject being the film ‘Frozen’.

The town is already in carnival mode with shops beginning to decorate their windows in preparation for the main carnival on Saturday.

One interesting display is already in place and I recommend you take a good look in the Ilminster Hardware window.

It is full of models of carnival floats, all designed and built by the children at Greenflyde School.

The Greenfylde children also took part in the children’s carnival for the first time – each child carrying an individually designed umbrella.

The children’s carnival has ensured carnival week has started with a bang and I look forward to seeing you all at the carnival on Saturday night.

I hope those of you who attend have a great time; that you applaud the efforts of those who have spent the last year building and decorating their floats; and don’t forget to give generously to the carnival charities.
