PREPARATIONS are complete for Crewkerne's annual Charter Fair and Sunday Street Market.

Edward Danter’s Funfair will open at 4.45pm on Friday (September 1) and 12noon on Saturday (September 2), closing at 10pm on both evenings.

The Sunday Street Market will open at 10am (September 3) closing at 3.30pm with the drawing of the organisers from The Rotary Club of Crewkerne District's grand raffle.

St Bartholomew’s Street Fair dates back to Saxon times and the Domesday Book recorded it in 1086.

The King granted its Charter in the 13th century.

The Rotary Club of Crewkerne District stages the event annually on behalf of the town and people of Crewkerne. All funds raised support local good causes.

Rotary president Tracy Brown said: “I am delighted that this year’s Fair and Sunday Street Market are almost upon us.

"I am extremely pleased that the Mayor of Crewkerne, Alice Samuels, will officially open the Fair on Friday afternoon.

"Huge thanks to the local business community that has once again provided its generous support”.

The Sunday Street Market is a sell out with all places allocated.

The Fair weekend is also a time for everyone to learn more about the work of the Rotary Club of Crewkerne District, which is always keen to attract new members.

Rotary encourages everyone to visit its stall that will be open throughout the weekend from 10am on Friday.
