A MERRIOTT woman who was allegedly found slumped over her steering wheel in her car and then drove off in an erratic manner “all over the road” has been ordered to stand trial before Somerset Magistrates.

Susan Mary Foreman, 51, of Church Street, appeared in the dock before Somerset magistrates, sitting at Yeovil.

She pleaded guilty that on May 28 at Yeovil she drove a red Citroen C1 on a road between Dinnington and Merriott without due care and attention.

However she pleaded not guilty to a second allegation that she drove the vehicle while unfit to drive through drink.

Prosecutor Christine Hart said that Foreman claimed that she had consumed alcohol after the incident and had only driven in the manner she did due to tiredness, not drinking.

Following a review of the case both matters were adjourned until October 2 when she must return to the court for a trial to take place.

She was released on unconditional bail.
