Update: Repairs were completed and the road re-opened yesterday evening (Wednesday, May 8).

A STRETCH of the A358 near Chard will be closed all day after a burst water main.

Wessex Water is urging motorists travelling between Chard and Axminster on the A358 to allow extra time for their journey as Two Ash Lane will remain closed all day.

It follows a burst water main, near the Two Ash Lane junction, earlier this morning (8 May). No customers are without water.

The road is currently closed so repairs can take place and will remain shut for most of the day while the road surface is reinstated.

Larger vehicles should use the A30/A303/A35 as a diversion to avoid the area affected.

A Wessex Water spokesman said: “We’re sorry to those motorists affected by the emergency repair work. Our engineers are working as quickly and safely as possible to complete the repairs and get the road re-opened later today.”
