A PRIMARY school was “thrilled” to announce they won a sports award.

Tatworth Primary School is celebrating the School Games Platinum Mark Award achieved in this academic year.

A message from the school said: “We are delighted to announce that Tatworth Primary School, has achieved the School Games Platinum Mark Award for the 2022/23 academic year.

“Schools that submit gold-level applications four years in a row are given an opportunity to additionally apply for the Platinum Award.

“We have worked extremely hard over the last four years to achieve the Gold Award.

“The additional application for Platinum enabled Tatworth to demonstrate our commitment to the School Games philosophy.

“Part of the submission included a video of a typical day at Tatworth School which led to the final approval of the Platinum award.

“The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.

“Our sporting achievements this year included: An active timetable, wellbeing week, attending local inter-school tournaments, school playleaders, active spaces, completion of an annual health check, and a sports committee.

“As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce, and clubs, and we are thrilled that the hard work and effort of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year.”
