THE students and staff at Holyrood Academy are delighted to announce that once again the Year 11 students at Holyrood Academy have excelled in their GCSE examinations and secured a fantastic set of results.
Holyrood students also excelled in vocational courses with the vast majority of students achieving Distinction and Distinction* grades.
There have been some excellent individual achievements across the year group, with many students surpassing their target grades.
Top performing students this year included:
- Matilda Clayton who achieved 7 grade 9s, 1 grade 8, and a D*
- Holly Griffiths who achieved 7 grade 9s, 1 grade 7, and a D*
- Joseph Cashin who achieved 6 grade 9s and 3 grade 8s
- Daisy Clayton who achieved 4 grade 9s, 4 grade 8s, and a D*
- Ashton Pickrell 2 grade 9s, 5 grade 8s, and 2 grade 7s
Many students met and surpassed their challenging target grades, however, Matilda Wallbridge excelled by exceeding her target grades in all subjects where in some cases she achieved two grades above targets.
Phoebe Grinter and James Comey also made excellent progress achieving well above their target grades with James surpassing his English target by 3 grades.
Headteacher, Dave MacCormick, said: “Despite a disrupted and challenging few years, this Year 11 group have remained focussed upon achieving their very best and their efforts have been rewarded in what is a strong set of exam results for them: one that allows them to pursue their next steps.
“We wish all of our former Year 11s the very best of luck for the future and we are delighted to welcome many of them back into our Sixth Form as Year 12.”
Head of this Year 11 cohort, Matt Walker-Jones said: “We are incredibly proud of all that has been achieved by our Year 11 students.
“They have shown incredible resilience to overcome the many challenges they faced throughout their secondary education.
“Their steely determination, focus, and stoicism have now been rewarded with an excellent set of results, giving them the best possible foundation for their chosen path.
"I would like to wish all our Year 11 students the very best of luck for all their future endeavours.”
