PARENTS have been left disgusted and pupils in tears after a man was allegedly seen exposing himself near a Chard primary school.

The mother of an 11-year-old pupil has spoken out after her daughter and their friends say they were the victims of an indecent exposure incident in Holyrood Street, near to Manor Court Community Primary School.

The incident is believed to have happened at around 8am on Tuesday, September 26.

The mother, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “My daughter walks to school with two female friends and one boy. They are all 11.”

The four friends said they had seen a man watching them as they walked to school every day since the start of term.

The mum added: “They didn’t think anything on it.

“On Tuesday, the man was stood (exposing himself and committing an indecent act).

“They walked past and when they saw him, looked away. After they passed, a couple of the girls started crying and they phoned their parents.”

After the pupil’s step dad collected the group of students from outside the Secret Garden, he drove them back down Holyrood Street and they pointed out a man they believed to be involved in the incident.

The Chard mum said: “I am disgusted.

“My daughter was very upset by the whole situation.

“She doesn’t know what (is happening), nor does she know what he was doing, but she does know the underwear rule and she knows what he did was wrong.

“At school, the children all were taken to a room and they wrote their accounts of what happened. Mrs Down was brilliant.

“These statements were given to the police.

“Shortly before 9am, a policeman came to our home to find out and take details of what happened.”

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said a man has voluntarily attended a police station to be interviewed about the allegations of indecent exposure, and the incident is currently ongoing.
