THE mayor cut the ribbon to open a new business in Chard earlier this week.

Cllr Dave Bulmer opened the new Just Sew Sentimental shop at 11am on Monday alongside business owner Susie Evans.

Mrs Evans was joined by her husband Peter and her son and helper, Rhys.

The new store is at 3 Stringfellow Gallery in Holyrood Street.

The business offers embroidery services, selling embroiding clothing and bags, Kanzashi gifts, hair bands and clips, jewellery, bath bombs, crochet, frames, baby things, wooden goods and more.

Among the traders on offer are Maggierose Beads, Body Shop at Home with Tara Major, Soulful Crafts, Tara Loves, Perfect Imperfections Jewellery, Zac and Ali’s little Sparkles, Dragonfly Jewellery, Jacarandas, Jula Jewellery, Hugo Buuren, Daisy Grace Crochet, Handmade Gifts by Lisa, Always Lovely, Little Treasures and The Treasure Box.

As well as the mayor, Cathie Morrison, town councillor and representative for Chard Business Voice, was in attendance.

After the shop’s opening, Susie said: "It was good. We had a nice crowd at the opening and a steady flow throughout the day.

"We made some sales, took lots of enquiries and had lots of interest.

"I have since had lots of positive messages, like last night after I started putting things on Facebook.

“I would just like to thank the mayor for cutting the ribbon to officially open the shop this morning and to everyone who came down to support us throughout the day.

“We had balloons and sweetie filled eggs to give away and not forgetting the free prize draw.

“For my bunch of flowers from Rhys and my massive bouquet from Peter, I just want to say thank you to them both and that I love them lots, and to Ingrid at Floweringi for making them look amazing.

“Craft supplies are available in store. Orders, suggestions and requests are welcome in the shop."

Just Sew Sentimental is open from Monday to Thursday, from 9.30am to 4pm, on Friday from 9.30am to 3pm, and on Saturday from 9am until 2pm.
