A CHARD man has appeared in court accused of two allegations of raping a woman during separate incidents in the town last year.
Michael Antony Edwards, 23, of Manor Close, was in the dock before Somerset Magistrates, sitting at Yeovil.
He was charged with the rape of a woman at an address in Chard on September 4, 2015.
He was further alleged to have committed a second similar offence between July 1 and 31 last year.
The defendant did not enter pleas to either of the offense and the magistrates sad the case was so serious that Edwards must be sent to Taunton Crown Court to stand trial.
They adjourned the case until September 26 when he must appear before a pre trial hearing at Taunton. In the meantime he was released on unconditional bail.
