SO COUNCILLOR Broom is “devastated” by the EU Referendum result.

Personally I am delighted that we are to be freed from the shackles of the EU.

Had the Leave campaign lost this vote we would have been disappointed, however I believe that we would have accepted the result, as that is democracy at work.

Which is more than can be said of the leader of the Liberal Party, who has said “that the party will use its best efforts to ensure that we re-enter the EU”, no understanding of democracy there then.

I feel that she is overstating the case that Chard’s immigrant community are feeling fearful at this time. I see no sign of this when out and about in town.

Walking and talking in town in the run up to this referendum I never spoke to anyone that was for remaining, maybe that is because they all felt that any concerns they had were being ignored by politicians.
