FLOOD water poured into a house near Chard this afternoon with residents unable to stop flow.

Avon and Somerset Fire and Rescue service were called to the property in Taylors Mead, Combe St Nicholas shortly after 3pm.

One fire engine was sent to the house after water started entering at a fast rate and the occupant and neighbours were unable to divert the flow.

Crews got to work diverting the flow of the water and pumping the water that had entered the property.

A spokesman for the fire service said the flood occured after drains in the area became blocked.

Somerset has been experiencing bursts of heavy rain throughout the day with the whole country being given a yellow weather warning.
