THE MANHUNT continues after a stolen car was driven into a wall in Chard.

The crash happened last Wednesday at around 7.50pm, when a black Audi collided with the wall of a property on the junction between Oaklands Avenue and Avishayes Road.

A spokesman for the Avon and Somerset police said they believe the car involved was stolen.

Three men were seen fleeing the scene. Two men were described as being of skinny build. A third man was of larger build and was wearing a black top and brown shorts.

The Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue service was also called to the scene, and made the car safe and helped with some clearing of rubble.

Police removed the car and have since put it through forensic examination as part of an ongoing investigation.

On Thursday, volunteers from Chard skate park helped to clear the remaining debris from the wall.

Some small parts of the black Audi, including a panel and the badge from the car, still remained by the pavement on Oakland Avenue.

Residents of Chard took to social media to support the skate park volunteers.

Angela Sunnick said: “A huge shout out to all the young chaps from the skate park mucking in and tidying up the aftermath of this out of the goodness of their hearts. I drove past you going home.Well done. Your parents should be proud.”

Amanda Banks: “We as parents are extremely proud of all who lent a hand today. They all jumped at the chance to help make the debris safe while parents were at work. Huge pat on the back to all who helped.”
