THE NEWS is today urging the community to back a fund to help three children orphaned after the tragic deaths of their parents.

A fund set up to support the three children – who have suddenly found their world turned upside down following the deaths of their parents – has received massive support.

Nine-year-old Jessica, George, seven, and little three-year-old Loren, of Tatworth, lost their mum and dad in tragic circumstances in the murder-suicide of Tracey and Kevin Baker earlier this month.

Now an appeal has been set up to support the children through the crowdfunding scheme on the JustGiving online fundraising site.

“These children are part of our community’s fabric,” says a statement on the webpage. “Please help us support them as they face life within the loving care of their extended families, yet without their parents.”

The original target for the fund was £300 – but it had already amassed a whopping £2,810 by Tuesday morning.

A spokesman for the organisers of the fund, known as Community 4 The Baker Children, said they would like to thank everyone who has so far supported the fund.

The webpage statement adds: “We are mums who see ourselves as facilitators of the community passion to provide for the children."

“Our skills include high-level knowledge in safeguarding children and money matters. We have consulted the families involved throughout the process and proceed with their backing.”

People can donate through crowdfunding.justgiving.com/thebakerchildren.
Cash and cheque donations can be made at Bishop’s Funeral Services at Cillerhayes in Old Town, Chard.
The bodies of Tracey, 42, and Kevin Baker, 35, were found at their home in Wellings Close, Tatworth, on July 5.
