GAS giant Calor is urging Somerset homeowners to ensure their fuel is safe following a rise in the number of oil thefts.

Avon and Somerset Police say about 100 thefts are reported each year and domestic properties are four times more likely to be hit.

Paul Madge, of Calor, said: “It is sometimes assumed oil thieves only target commercial buildings but residential properties are equally at risk.”
