FLOWER planters in Chard town centre will look even more “blooming marvellous”
this year – thanks to an improvement project.
The Chard Town Team in partnership with South Somerset District Council, Chard Town Council and the Somerset Market Towns Investment Group (MTIG) have completed the scheme to see 12 large plastic planters fitted with wooden sleeves.
The planters had begun to show their age and the makeover has helped to smarten up the centre of Chard.
MTIG funded the project.
MTIG representative Cllr Dave Bulmer said: “The fitting of the wooden sleeves improves the appearance of the planters, contributing to making Chard town centre a more attractive place to visit and shop.
“This is another good example of working in partnership to deliver positive and achievable projects for the greater good of Chard.”
MTIG chairman Cllr Angie Singleton added: “We are always keen to support projects that enhance the appearance of South Somerset’s market towns and boost opportunities to increase trade.”
The new project is part of a broad range of revitalisation initiatives developed by the Chard Town Team and the town council to create a more attractive environment for visitors and residents to enjoy.
