A MOTORCYCLIST who was involved in an accident on Snowdon Hill, Chard, yesterday evening remains in a serious condition in hospital.

Police have issued an appeal for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision last night (Thursday) in the Chard area.

The incident happened on the A30 at Snowdon Hill at about 4.45pm and involved a motorcycle and a car.

A police spokesman said: "The motorcyclist is reported to have been overtaking a tractor and trailer when he was in collision with a car coming in the opposite direction."

The motorcyclist – a man in his 50s – suffered serious leg and arm injuries. He was taken to Musgrove Park Hospital, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

The road was closed following the incident to allow police to examine the scene. It was re-opened at about 10pm.
