A CAMPAIGN to save the railway station at Chard Junction from development has won the backing of local councillors.
The News reported last week that a Facebook group has been launched to help save the station so that train passengers could potentially use it again.
Members of Chard Town Council’s planning and highways committee agreed on Monday to back the efforts being made to save the station.
South Somerset District Council has received a planning application for the change of use of the former goods yard at the station to industrial and to build a concrete batching and mixing plant.
