THE family of a much-loved Chard woman who died last year are hoping to raise a bucketload of cash for St Margaret’s Hospice tonight.

Cathie Northcott died 12 months ago at her home in Crimchard after a brave two-year fight against cancer in which she defied doctors and lived longer than expected.

Now her family are organising a charity Daffodil Ball at the Guildhall in Chard to be held from 7pm to mark the first anniversary of Cathie’s passing.

Well-known local DJ Steve Carpenter will attend and act as auctioneer for the evening and the Salsa Cascara crew of Mal Cox and Bev Stiling will give a salsa dancing demonstration and lesson.

Tickets are £40, including a three-course dinner, disco, live entertainment, charity auction and lots more. Dress code is black tie.
