THE deadline is looming for woodland owners and managers, community groups and farmers in Somerset to enter a prestigious award.

The four categories in the Royal Forestry Society’s Woodland Awards recognise good practice in multipurpose, community, silviculture and small woodlands.

There is also a schools award open to educational establishments for children from nursery age to 18 years old.

The winner of each category will win £1,000, with the runner-up bagging £500.

Entries must be received by March 6 – for more information, visit www.rfs.org.uk
