THE poignant and moving story of American singer Eva Cassidy will be brought to life at the Octagon Theatre in Yeovil on Thursday, March 1, from 7.30pm.
At the time of her death at the age of 33 in 1996, Cassidy was relatively unknown outside Washington DC, but within four years British radio favourite Terry Wogan had discovered and promoted her haunting interpretation of ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’, taking it to the top of the charts.
This compelling musical play journeys through Cassidy’s life from her idyllic childhood, growing up in a musical family, to her studio work with boyfriend and mentor Chris Biondo, to the rabble-rousing live recording of ‘Blues Alley’ and, finally, her tragically premature death.
The show features Sarah Jane Buckley, of TV’s Hollyoaks, Pauline Flemming, from Brookside, and Rob McVeigh, from Any Dream Will Do.
Tickets cost £18. For further information call the Octagon box office on 01935-422884.
