ORGANISERS of a music festival in Taunton this summer have announced their main sponsor for the event.

Photonics engineering group G&H (Gooch and Housego), based in Ilminster, have agreed to support the Test Fest at Taunton Rugby Club on Saturday, June 17.

Test Fest aims to raise awareness about testicular cancer among young men, the largest group of attendees at music festivals.

It will encourage men to self-check, with merchandise on sale featuring messages about the importance of early detection.

Charity founder and event organiser Sue Brand said: "We are overwhelmed by the support of a global company like G&H.

"We look forward to having them attend the festival and showcase their work to our attendees."

Sarah James, head of global HR at G&H said: "Each year, we support a local charity close to our hearts, and this year is no different.

"The Test Fest is a fantastic way to bring a serious issue to people's attention in a fun and engaging way, and we are proud to be a part of it."

The festival will feature music, food and drink, while the team from the It's in the Bag charity will be on hand to talk to people about what it does.

Most of the bands donate their performance to the charity or play at a reduced rate.
