A WOMAN who has lived in the Ilminster area all her life celebrated her 100th birthday two weeks ago.

Ivy Hallett was born to Ben and Emma Sweet on December 3 1907, one of sixteen children.

She grew up in Lower Street, Merriott, and moved to Whitelackington in 1932 where her daughter June was born.

After living in Whitelackington with June and her four grandchildren, Maureen, David, Mark and Melanie, Ivy moved into Ilminster's Ile Court, where she stayed for almost 20 years.

She is now living again with June, who has cared for her over the past 10 years.

The centenarian celebrated her milestone birthday at the beginning of December with a small tea party attended by all three generations of her family.

And she is looking forward to meeting the next generation when she becomes a great, great grandmother in March!

The family thanks friends and neighbours for all their birthday cards and presents.
