THE MANAGERS of a Chard pub are celebrating 12 months behind the bar with a big beer and cider festival this weekend.

The Choughs Hotel, at 8 High Street in Chard, will be hosting its first such event.

Jay Holmes, bar manager at the Choughs Hotel, said: "On June 30, we will be celebrating our first year of trading by hosting a beer and cider festival, also raising money for Parkinsons UK.

"The event will take place in the beer garden and car park located at the rear of the pub.

"At the event we will have an outside bar, catering, kids activities and a bird of prey demonstration.

"The event will be formally opened at 1pm by the Mayor of Chard and the Town Crier."

There will also be a burger van, hog roast, and other refreshments.

The bird of prey demonstration will run from 1pm to 6pm.
