THE full line-up and events for Chard’s big summer festival have been announced.

The annual event, which includes Party in the Park, is being held across the weekend of July 21 and 22.

From 9am on Saturday there will be a street market along Holyrood Street with lots of stalls and things to do.

The festival’s main events kick off later in the day, with the traditional beacon lighting and more entertainment in the evening.

Chard town councillor Jason Baker, who is on the Chard Town Team, said: “On July 21, we will be up at the Chard Beacon with music and a fete with stalls and a total wipeout machine.

“On the Sunday we are all down at Jocelyn Park for the big fun day.

“We have lots more live music, and a 100-foot assault course, which is a bit of a new addition this year.”

The acts performing on Sunday have been set up by Chard musician Jack Humphries, who also organises the Somerset Unsigned concerts in the town.

The line-up will be Chard’s own Ross Vicary from noon until 1pm, followed by Ciaron Elm from Exeter until 2pm.

Jack Humphries will be performing from 2pm until 3pm, followed by Stevie Brown who is also from the South Somerset town. Yeovil-based group Sinful Maggie will finish the live music schedule with a set from 4pm to 5pm.

Mr Humphries said: “July 22 brings you Chard’s Summer Festival.

“We will be showcasing local musicians throughout the day along with stalls, games, children’s entertainment and much more.”

Chard Town Team are also looking for volunteers to help with the event, including road closures, craft stalls, free street performers, and more.
