ILMNSTER filled with cries of ‘Oyez’ and ‘Hear Ye’ as the annual crier competition returned at the weekend.
Town Criers from far and wide competed for the Dillington Cup, which is awarded each year to the Town Crier judged to be overall best in volume, clarity, diction and expression.
The best crier crown was claimed by Roy Goodwin of Ilfracombe, followed by Lichfield's Ken Knowles in second place and Les Ellis from Dartmouth in third.
Glastonbury's David Greenway was the best dressed crier, and Bee Goodwin of Ilfracombe was awarded the title of best dressed escort.
The best dressed couple were Peter and Joan Dauncey from Melksham.
