TOURISTS and residents will now be able to easily discover the beautiful countryside in South Somerset thanks to a new visitors guide.

The guide, called Discover South Somerset, was produced by South Somerset District Council (SSDC) and has 39 pages full of attractions and places to go for people wanting to get out and about.

In each section of the guide, there is an introduction to each individual town and village, showcasing its best markets, shops, eateries, stunning architecture and a list of things to do.

Cllr Clare Aparicio Paul, portfolio holder for tourism at SSDC, said: “The district council is distributing the new Discover South Somerset brochures across the UK through Tourist Information Centres, railway stations and motorway service stations to encourage more people to visit this beautiful area of England.

“Tourism is an important part of our local economy and we are looking forward to giving a special Somerset welcome to many new visitors this year, to share the attractions and wonderful countryside that is so close at hand for those of us who are lucky enough to live and work here.”

Discover South Somerset is available from Yeovil and Cartgate Tourist Information Centres, or discoversouthsomerset.com.
