A CHARD man has been ordered to stand trial at Taunton Crown Court accused of an offence of sexual assault.

Corin Stanley Kane Corrick, 27, of Henson Park, pleaded not guilty in the dock before District Judge David Taylor, sitting at Yeovil.

He was charged that between January 1, 2014 and January 31, 2014 in Chard he intentionally touched a woman aged 16 or over and that the touching was sexual when she did not consent.

Corrick pleaded not guilty and his solicitor Chris Ivory said his client “vehemently denied” the allegation against him.

After hearing further details of the alleged offence the district judge refused to accept the case and ordered the defendant to stand trial before the crown court.

He adjourned the case until October 26 when Corrick must appear before a preliminary hearing at Taunton.

In the meantime he was released on unconditional bail.
